About Me

My photo
When i left school back then i was lucky enough to enroll on an engineering apprenticeship. I think this lead me in good stead. I was always one of those children that pulled things apart but actually put them back together again. My first engine given to me at the age of Seven, a Triang Princess Elizabeth. The rest as they say is History. Later in life i got back in to Model Railways and started building Pine Road. This could lead anywhere so i hope you enjoy my Blog.

New Road. A Station Building.

The station building for New Road, u can only say has been a complete pain in the ass.
I wanted to build something completely different, well, it's that alright. We have gone down the art deco route.
The windows are wanting to be painted, steps to the entrance and some pillars to hold the end of the building up.
A 'SOUTHERN RAILWAY' sign for the top floor.
Like nothing I have built before.

kernow or is it EFE. The Gate stock

The Gate Stock by Kernow and/or EFE.
This is superb model.
I missed out the first time around but not wanting to on the second batch.
There was one thing that has been bugging me with it, not that I'm a perfectionist, actually a friend of mine pointed it out to me and it has been bugging me ever since.
The drop lights have been painted onto the glass as opposed to the window frame. Today, I thought I would have ago at rectifying this. Actually a fairly easy fix.
The body snapes away, the glass section is only lightly glued in, that's a bonus.
It looks like it's 3 sections but be careful as they are joined together as one piece. A sharp blade breaks the glue joints and will lift out. You do not need to remove the drivers end section.
You need to do this to remove the paint from the glass. I used tCut and a cotton bud, it will come away eventually, do not use thinners or white spirit it will 'cloud' the glass.
Turning to the body, you can now paint the window surround. I used Humbrol No 62, I dapped some thinner on and then the paint, it should carry the paint around in a sort of capillary action. When dry replace glass and body. I just dapped a couple of spot of Glue and Glaze on just to hold the glass in place.
Doesn't that look better.

New Road, a short running session,

A short running session. There is to much going on for one operator.
For a small layout it deffinatly has operational interest.

A Station Building for New Road.

I have started on the Station Building for New Road.
I wanted to do something different so have for an Art Deco style.
The whole layout is looking bland and very white at the moment. Lots still to do on the building. All a bit fiddly.
