About Me

My photo
When i left school back then i was lucky enough to enroll on an engineering apprenticeship. I think this lead me in good stead. I was always one of those children that pulled things apart but actually put them back together again. My first engine given to me at the age of Seven, a Triang Princess Elizabeth. The rest as they say is History. Later in life i got back in to Model Railways and started building Pine Road. This could lead anywhere so i hope you enjoy my Blog.

Play it again, Sam

A trip to the Cinema.
The Regal Cinema in Fordingbridge originally opened in 1933, slap bang in the middle of Southern Railway days.
Days when everything seemed easier, everyone was happier, worked hard but stress free.
When Mice use to squeak and not click.
It closed in 1965, along with most other things it would seem.

Have a look at the website for dates and the films showing.

I felt honoured to be invited to the Cinema.
What i saw was a work of art.
The Cinema has been tastefully updated art deco style with pictures and advertising boards from the period.

The main facade looks splendid from the road with the Regal Cinema sign taking pride and place on the building.

Up to the bar

The steps up towards the bar and the entrance to the main screen.

Oyster detail

The main Foyer and the beautifully made reception desk, welcoming the clientele to this wonderfully updated palace.

The attention to detail on the bar and it's highly polished surrounding wood work really looks amazing.
What i would describe as an oyster shell look.
Seating
The same detail has been carried over on the brass drinks holders on the seat arms with a polished wooden insert.

The main screen below is a full 4K definition system with a quality surround sound installation.
