Adams A12 (Jubilee) Class

Hi all.

Seeing that the 'BUG' is nearing completion, i was looking around for the next project.

The cupboard in my hallway holds many treasures, kits that i have picked up over the last few years.

A couple of years back i started an Adams A12 Jubilee class, for some reason it was returned to its box and put back in said cupboard.

Thinking it was time to have another look at this kit, i had completely forgotten how far i had got on the kit.

Returning to its contents, i had scratch built a new chassis for it, it had come with one of those chunky white metal offerings, resembling more like a yorkie bar than a chassis. Things have moved on somewhat since Nu-cast produced the kit.

That was a good start, i had something to be getting on with.

I was a bit hesitant as i wasn't sure that the A12's went as far west as Exmouth. As all my engine are from Exmouth shed around the 1930s i thought this might be a problem. 

We are safe, according to Bradley's bible, Exmouth shed had Four in 1932, 611, 640, 643 and 644. 640 was on carriage piloting duties at Oakhampton, 643 moved to Guildford in 1933. That leave us with 611and 644, 611 was withdrawn 11/1937 and 644 withdrawn 3/1946. I am drawn to No 611 but can i find a photo of either, no, of course not.

 And here's the one i made earlier. Funny how you forget but i don't actually remember cutting this out DoH!

I have since made up some break gear for it using parts from a Mainly Trains etch, and made up a representation of the spring as Adams was fond of his cross beams i thought it needed a bit more detail.

 We have progressed, the body went together extremely well, The footplate is in Four separate castings, Two sides and Two ends, never come across this arrangement before but went together ok. The front casting being slightly problematic.

 Now, here's something new for me, its a tender, wow, my first tender. Martin Finney does a fabulous etch brass kit of these tenders but i just couldn't warrant the cost.

Trying to get this square....i swear one side is longer than the other!

  When you consider how old this kit is its quite a well detailed kit.

Plenty still to do.
